Neuroscience

I went to Wheaton College in MA and majored in neuroscience; I am now a PhD candidate in the Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine, on the neuroscience track. I study the neurobiology of learning and memory focusing on the brain’s ability to integrate across sensory modalities (auditory, visual, tactile, etc.) to create, store, and recall sensory-rich memories. My research applies to the clinic, especially to research on post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) as it involves generalizing fear to sensory cues that are otherwise neutral/inert. Outside of lab I participate in many science outreach programs such as the Upper Valley Brain Bee and as a reoccurring guest lecturer in local middle schools. I wanted to become a SEPA mentor to continue my science outreach to the general community, enhance my pedagogical skills, and inspire a new generation of scientists.
