Nicole Traphagen
Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine

As an undergrad at Clarkson University, I majored in biomolecular science and have a strong background in both chemistry and biology. I am currently a PhD student in the Program in Experimental and Molecular Medicine (PEMM) studying cancer biology. Very broadly, I am interested in understanding the cell and molecular basis of disease. More specifically, my thesis work focuses on the molecular mechanisms of resistance to anti-estrogen therapies in breast cancer, and strategies to overcome this resistance. I was interested in becoming a SEPA mentor because (1) this was a great opportunity to become more involved in the community and help foster middle school student's interest in STEM; and (2) I wanted to improve my scientific communication skills for a broad audience.
